Start with the likely buyer
Identify the exact equipment category before comparing platform reach. A buyer looking for a modular test system needs different information from someone seeking a complete semiconductor tool. Ask how relevant buyers will find the catalogue and what supporting information they can review. A large general audience does not by itself establish demand for a specialist asset.
Check whether the catalogue can explain the equipment
Review how the proposed listing presents model numbers, installed options, matched components, condition and readable photographs. Make sure bidders can distinguish one complete system from a group of unrelated parts. Ask who prepares descriptions, who approves them and how errors are corrected before the sale.
Choose the sale format around the inventory and deadline
Ask about timed bidding, inspection, lot grouping, starting prices, reserves and the time available for preparation. The right format depends on the assets and project. Do not treat a proposed closing date as confirmation that every lot will sell or leave the premises by that date.
Compare the complete cost and settlement arrangement
Request the seller commission basis, approved preparation and marketing costs, platform charges, handling and any minimums. Understand buyer-facing fees separately. Ask when settlement occurs and which deductions appear in the seller report. Use the auction cost checklist to compare proposals on the same basis.
Work through one bidder’s collection journey
Who answers technical questions? Is inspection available? Who receives payment and authorizes release? Who disconnects, packs and loads the lot? Which party arranges freight? Clarify site access and deadlines. A platform that accepts bids does not automatically provide every physical service needed to complete the sale.
Agree what happens when a lot does not leave
Cover reserve-not-met lots, cancelled purchases, non-payment and uncollected equipment. Relisting, storage, alternative sale routes and recycling require their own terms. Check whether any extra costs apply and who authorizes the next step.
Discuss the platform as part of the project
Surplus Cascade considers different platforms and agrees the seller commission and work individually. We do not publish a universal platform recommendation or guarantee proceeds. Send the equipment list for an auction review, or compare a direct purchase if an agreed purchase price is your priority.
