Selling untested or incomplete test equipment.

A useful enquiry does not require you to prove that every instrument works. It does require a clear distinction between what is known and what has not been checked.

Use condition labels consistently.

Working as last used, power-on only, untested, faulty, incomplete and for parts describe different situations. Add the basis and date when known. If the only evidence is that a display lights up, describe that observation rather than promising full operation.

An unknown condition is better than a guess.

Do not turn uncertainty into a working claim to make an inventory look better. Photograph identification labels, missing parts and visible faults. Existing error messages, service history and calibration records can help, but do not attempt a repair or unsafe check merely for the enquiry.

List the parts that remain.

Controllers, modules, probes, fixtures, power supplies and cables may still matter to a buyer. Identify which components belong together and which are missing. For modular systems, list chassis and module identities separately and connect them using a system reference.

Describe a mixed lot as a project.

A bulk list can include working and uncertain assets. Keep condition at the row or system level so a buyer can assess the group without assuming all items are the same. Add quantity, location, approximate volume and handling needs; do not discard identifiers from older equipment.

Final pricing still requires a check.

At Surplus Cascade, untested, faulty, incomplete, old and for-parts equipment may be reviewed within the accepted categories. The final price follows an equipment check and considers completeness, demand, quantity and practical costs. Submission does not guarantee purchase or establish a price.

Use a description someone can verify

“Powers on; measurement functions not checked; one channel shows an error; probe not included” gives a reviewer more to work with than “good condition.” If you do not know whether it powers on, say “untested” and provide identification photos. You do not need to buy missing accessories or attempt repairs just to start the discussion.

Prepare the first review.

Send the list or clear photos and your location. Bulk technical inventories are preferred across California, Oregon, Washington State and Nevada. Use the inventory checklist, review the factors affecting value and see test equipment we consider.
